Sculpture is a difficult-to-understand medium. "You need a lot of culture to understand sculpture", he explains with a smile. Clément's career has seen an amazing evolution. Galleries in Québec, Ontario, United States and even in Europe exhibit his art. In 2003, Lemieux set a new personal record by selling a sculpture for $26,000 at Joyner Waddington's Canadian Fine Art auction.
Born in Lévis, in 1946, Clément was not raised to be an artist; his family of modest parents were not interested in art. At the age of sixteen, he began working for a Chrysler dealer in his neighborhood where he learned all the tricks of the trade of car body repair. Later in life, while growing his own family, Clement became interested in making furniture, and although he was a very talented cabinet-maker, sculpture was the challenge he was looking for. A dedicated artist, it is not unusual for him to work 60 hours a week. He developed and perfected his skills, utilizing his experience in polishing surfaces, like he did as a car body repairman. After some time, he participated in countless exhibitions leading him to his first one-man show in 1993.
