He discovered the Magdalen Islands in 1970; it was love at first sight and he often dreamed of living on these magnificent Islands some day. His dream came true in 1993 when he settled in the there and opened his Atelier-Gallery to the public. His stay in the Maritimes has become the rhythm to all this work. Today, Daniel Gautier lives in Hudson by the lake of Two-Mountains and spends six months of the year in the Maritimes.
Daniel is a painter of the sea. As a young adult, the sea fascinated him and all his travels lead him to its shores. In the early years, Daniel's paintings were surreal and even then, many of his works had reference to the sea. With the passing years, this passion for the sea became an essential part of his composition. The sea is always there - but through a window or in the distance, as a dream or a thought.
